Lithuanian national basketball league champion Kauno "Žalgiris" to CSKA in the Aleksandr Gomelsky cup tournament with the result 69:61 (18:17, 18:16, 17:11, 16:17) and the team will have to fight the ULEB Euroleague champions Athens "Panathinaikos" for the third place.
"Žalgiris" arrived to Moscow without Robertas Javtokas, Mantas Kalnietis, Paulius Jankūnas and Tomas Delininkaitis, who have just finished playing in the Eurobasket 2011 and were let to have some rest.
Furthermore, a Croatian player Marko Popovič wasn't feeling very well, so he spent only a few minutes in the court.
In CSKA team only Viktor Khryapa was absent, also for the same reasons as "Žalgiris" players.
Now the Russian team will face the Turkey champions - "Fenerbahce Ulker" basketball club.
After the game CSKA guard Alexey Shved said that even though they will meet "Žalgiris" in the ULEB Euroleague, they aren't preparing for the match so far, because there is much time left.

"Žalgiris": Tadas Klimavičius - 15, Sonny Weems (6 reb.) - 12, DeJuan Collins - 9, Ty Lawson - 8, Milovan Rakovič (6 reb.) - 6, Artūras Milaknis - 5, Mindaugas Kuzminskas - 4, Omar Samhan - 2, Marko Popovič and Mario Delaš didn't score.
