The Eurobasket 2011 wasn't only very interesting, uniting the nation and intense, but also profitable for the Lithuania.
"Of course, the most important things were spiritual and emotional experiences during the biggest European basketball championship of all times. Nevertheless, it is also very important that Lihuania hasn't experienced any financial loss" - says the "Eurobasket 2011" executive director Mindaugas Špokas.
"Eurobasket 2011" direct revenue was 34.8 million litas, and the cost was only 32.5 million. The government, which gave only a half of the budget, regained a solid amount of 24.2 million litas because of the VAT.
It's the first time in history when there were 24 teams participating in the European championship. They fought in 6 biggest Lithuania's cities: Panevėžys, Šiauliai, Alytus, Klaipėda, Vilnius and Kaunas. The winner, just like two years ago, was Spain.
The following Eurobasket of 2013 will be held in Slovenia.
