"Rockets" nenori paleisti D.Motiejūno į Brukliną - planuoja naują pasiūlymą

Autorius: Krepšinis.lt.

Hjustono „Rockets“ klubas nenori paleisti Donato Motiejūno. Nors klubo direktorius Darylas Morey pripažįsta, kad 25-erių lietuvis artimiausiu metu turi sulaukti Bruklino „Nets“ pasiūlymo pasirašyti kontraktą, jis užsimena, kad „Rockets“ savo ruožtu ketina pateikti savo variantą ir pranokti konkurentus.

Visgi to padaryti klubas negali, kol nežino, kokio solidumo pasiūlymo aukštaūgis sulauks iš „Nets“, rašo Krepšinis.lt.

Visgi sprendimas priklausys nuo to, koks bus „Nets“ pasiūlymas.

50 mln. JAV dolerių sutarties pasiūlymą viršijo Majamio „Heat“ komanda.

NBA lygoje šiuo metu yra šešios komandos, turinčios laisvų pinigų ir galinčios pasiūlyti lietuviui naują kontraktą. Tai Denverio „Nuggets“, Filadelfijos Sixers“, Minesotos „Timberwolves“, Jutos „Jazz“, Fynikso „Suns“ ir minėta „Nets“.

Visgi, nepaisant visų teorinių pasiūlymų, paskutinis ėjimas šioje situacijoje turėtų priklausyti Hjustonui, kuriam vis dar priklauso apribotas laisvasis agentas D-Mo.

When ever you install the team client in the machine, Team web access and team administration tool is default facility when installed the team client in the machine.

Here Team web access only access if you have TFS cal in the company. or If you do not has the CAL, you can only manage the work items only using WIWA.

If you are using team explorer for normal usage like source control, manging work items, reporting no need of installing power tools. If you want to customize the work items or customize the project templates or editing the project folder or exploring the source folders in windows explorer you need the power tools installation.

Cisco Brings DevOps To The Network

DevOps has come to the network. Cisco is helping network engineers and managers who are conversant in programming make the leap to the software-defined network (SDN) environment. It wants to make sure people trained in Cisco technologies are ready for SDN, and it's been quietly gathering resources for them to use in its emerging, more open networking environment.

"We've been arguing to the executive committee that we need to have a strategy and program for developers," as well a product line loaded with routers, switches, and other networking gear, said Susie Wee, VP and CTO of Networked Experiences. Cisco has turned to Wee and Rick Tywoniak, director of the new Cisco DevNet program announced Monday.

DevNet is meant to be a community of the enterprise network developers among its customers, its ISVs, independent systems integrators, and Cisco partners, producing software applications to run the programmable network of the future. It will have some characteristics of an Open Flow network, where the devices on the network don't arrive as preconfigured or self-configuring, based on spanning tree or other network protocols, but await instructions from a central controller.

By 2020, Cisco expects to have 1 million developers enrolled as network programmers.

< ;Want>to learn more about DevOps? See Agile, DevOps, Cloud: IT's New Trinity.]

In the past, developers struggled to get software applications to work with proprietary network equipment. "The network wasn't software friendly," conceded Wee in a blog posted on the Cisco site Monday.

"Today the development environment is rich and ready to take advantage of the open and intelligent network," she wrote.

<img src="https://img.deusm.com/informationweek/20 14/07/1297424/800px-Cumulus_cloud_before_rain.jpg& quot; />

Cisco got its first taste of how much interest there is in programmable networks when it staged a developer lab at Cisco Live in San Francisco at the end of May. The second floor of the Moscone West Convention Center was filled with attendees wanting to get a better understanding of how the network might be programmable in the near future.

To some extent, Cisco has always made software development kits and tools available that work with its equipment. But a larger development platform is emerging in open source code projects, such as the Linux Foundation's OpenDaylight Hydrogen, or through SDN-oriented startups such as BigSwitch, or through HP's Intelligent Management Center. Cisco is striving to keep up with these initiatives through SDKs, visual modeling tools, ready-to-use code samples, and more accessible REST-based APIs through partner Mulesoft, with 100 currently available. Also, DevNet will supply a community where members may come to rely on each other for shared experience and support.

In addition, DevNet will serve as an education and delivery vehicle for Cisco's approach to the SDN, its Application Centric Infrastructure. It has in beta the Application Policy Infrastructure Controller Enterprise Module (APIC EM), software that sits on the network controller and discovers what devices are on the network and how they're configured, or it finds a way to retrieve information on the devices. With the APIC EM "the network becomes programmable," said Wee. It won't be generally available until sometime in 2015.

A developer with knowledge of network security could produce an application on top of the APIC EM that addressed a particular security issue, which would then be deployed onto the network. In the past, the network staff would have had to rely on the vendor or a network security specialist to do such a thing, Wee said.

There's a longer term goal behind DevNet, as well: to draw the network operations engineers and network developers closer together in a shared framework. Operations staff seldom have had the chance to have any input on applications governing the network. Network application developers have seldom had any experience in running a particular network that needs new software.

"We hope to cross-pollinate hot-shot software developers with mission-critical operations people," Wee said.

Coming later this year will be a fixture that both may wish to use: a cloud-based sandbox environment for software-defined networking. Both developers and operators will be able to produce code and test-drive it in a safe environment, Wee said.

Part of the DevNet approach will be to offer a Cisco-sponsored DevNet App Store where customers, independent developers, and systems integrators may all offer network software that they produced for download to other customers. The store is expected to be available sometime in 2015, Wee said.

Azure devops powershell script - Kabrinskiy Eduard

Azure devops powershell script

<youtube></p& gt;
Azure devops powershell script Today' s national news headlines in english Azure devops powershell script

Automating the creation of work items in Azure DevOps (from Powershell and from Dynamics 365 Business Central)

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_07.jpg&quo t; />

If you?re using Azure DevOps in yor organization for the entire product lifecycle, you know for sure that you can handle also all your project management activities by using work items, boards, backlogs, sprints and so on. I?ve talked about that in the past here.

What personally we use a lot internally is the Work Items feature. By using work items you can track anything, from a task to do, a feature to implement, an impediment, an epic and a bug. You can open work items inside a project and assign those items to your team members easily:

The interesting part is that you can also commit code linked to a work item or to a bug for a complete tracking directly from Visual Studio Code or Visual Studio.

I think that when you start using those features widely, the first thing that comes to your mind is: can I automate the creation of a task or a bug, or in general any work item? This can be useful expecially if you want to permit to external users to open bugs for example.

Azure DevOps offers a set of REST APIs for automating the creation of things and for reading data from external applications. You can see the available APIs here.

We?ve automated the creation of tasks and bugs (or more in general, the creation of work items) by using an external application. Here I want to share a solution for doing this that uses a simple Powershell script.

To access the Azure DevOps REST APIs you need to be authenticated and so you need to create a Personal Access Token for your organization (top right corner, click on the user icon and select Personal access tokens).

For authentication, you need to send a Basic authentication header with the access token you have created to the url of your organization (https://dev.azure.com/OrganizationName& lt;/em>).

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_01.png&quo t; />

To create a work item, you need to send a POST request to the workitems API by passing a JSON body that defines your work item (JSON array). More details can be found here. The script to create a work item with the type you want is as follows:

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_02-1.png&q uot; />

When executed, this is the output in Powershell:

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_03.png&quo t; />

and these are my tasks and bugs created from Powershell in Azure DevOps:

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_04.png&quo t; />

You can find the script here. Quite interesting if you want to automate work items creation from external events isn?t it?

And what about if you want to create a system for opening tasks and bugs (or other work items) directly from Dynamics 365 Business Central? You can create an extension that permits you to insert a work item and then calls the Azure DevOps REST API.

As an example, I?ve created an extension with a table that stores my opened work items in Dynamics 365 Business Central as follows:

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_06.jpg&quo t; />

Then I?ve created a list page as a UI for opening a work item. On this page I have an action that takes all the work items not sent to Azure DevOps and then sends them to Azure DevOps by calling its REST API. Code for the page is omitted here (very easy to do):

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_07.jpg&quo t; />

The business logic for calling the Azure DevOps REST API is defined in a codeunit as follows:

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_08.jpg&quo t; />

What happens here? For each work item inserted into Dynamics 365 Business Central, a JSON representation is created, the REST API is called and the work item is created into the selected Azure DevOps project:

<img src="https://demiliani.files.wordpress.com/20 20/05/azuredevopspowershelltaskcreation_05.jpg&quo t; />

This sample can obviously be improved. For example you should parse the API response (JSON) in order to retrieve the Azure DevOps ID for the work item and store this ID into the Dynamics 365 Business Central table for traceability and so on but I think you?ve learned now that you can automate your DevOps processes also from scripts or directly from your ERP.

Azure devops authentication - Кабринский Эдуард

Azur e devops authentication

Azure devops authentication Today' s big news Azure devops authentication

Using Visual Studio Code with Azure DevOps

In this article I want to give a quick overview about the integration of Visual Studio Code and Git with Azure DevOps on my Windows 10 machine.

Azure DevOps ? formerly VSTS ? is the version of Team Foundation Server hosted on Microsoft Azure. Azure DevOps includes Azure Pipelines, Azure Boards, Azure Artifacts, Azure Repos and Azure Test Plans.

To gain first experiences with Azure RM Scripting, automated deployment and code repositories I looked at Visual Studio Code (VSCode). This is a free source code editor from Microsoft. With Azure Repos you get free private Git repositories and will be able to do code collaboration in the cloud.

Setup Visual Studio Code & Git

First download the latest version of Visual Studio Code from https://code.visualstudio.com/ and install it. Start the application and install the extension: Azure Repos

The next step is to download the latest version of Git from https://git-scm.com/download . Choose all the defaults except change VS Code to the default editor. That?s optional but I did it.

If you haven?t created an Azure DevOps project yet, you should do so now. You have as well a new created repository. Navigate in your browser to Azure Repos.

I have created a folder to synchronize the repository to the local harddisk.

In the File-Explorer there is now the option ?Git Bash Here? with right click available. The following window appears in which you initialize Git with the command ?git init?.

This command creates a subdirectory .git, which contains all relevant Git Repository data, i.e. a Git Repository framework.

Clone Git Repository from Azure DevOps

The next step is to clone the git repository from Azure DevOps to the local disk.

<st rong>Update: this Bug has been resolved!
Note: In Azure DevOps there is a button that you can press to synchronize. It doesn?t work if the URL contains spaces because of a bug. For this reason, I executed the clone command via the Git Bash. Therefore, replace the ?blanks? with %20 and it will work.

The next command is only needed if the repository is completely empty. It will create a completely new history of the project. If you do not execute this command, Git will not work in VSCode.

If you are now starting Visual Studio Code you need to click ?Add Workspace folder?? on the welcome screen and choose the Git Folder on your harddrive. This will look like this. As you can see, I have already created a folder and a new PowerShell file.

Signin to Azure DevOps-Team

To collaborate with your team in Azure DevOps you need to sign-in first. For doing this click on ?View? in the navigation pane and choose ?Command Palette? or press ?CTRL+SHIFT+P?. In the command window enter ?Team: Signin? and choose your authentication method. I prefer the ?new experience?.

I already described this new authentication method in the post about the PowerShell Az module.

Now you are ready to start your code-collaboration with Visual Studio Code, Azure DevOps and Git repos. Feel free to give feedback on this post and add comments.

File transform azure devops - Eduard Kabrinskiy

Config Transforms with Azure DevOps

This time I come with a different topic which we faced during setting up of deployment steps in Azure DevOps.
We had some config transforms that was needed to be applied environment specific. For that we have added some configs specific to environment.But the transforms were not getting applied correctly.

Here is the scenario :

Our new environment was added for testing purpose, We have added a connection strings config specific to the environment Ex : ConnectionStrings.DR-CM.config. which had some values specific to our new environment.In Azure DevOps, we have added a Pipeline for the environment and a task to Deploy AppService which relates to our solution. In that particular step, we had enabled the File Transform and Variable Substitution Options. This should automatically pick up our transformed config added in our solution and deploy it to the environment.

But we tried deploying about 4-5 times, but still the config was not getting replaced properly. Our DevOps Lead Hardeep Bhamra and me started debugging this issue. Spent our 2-3 hours debugging the tasks, steps, comparing it with the working environment one and all the steps looked same and we could not get a hint on why this issue was occurring. In parallel, we were looking in our configs and solution side, just to confirm we are good in the Solution side.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to our both of them that how does this task know that which config should be getting replaced in that particular environment in that particular pipeline. Because think of this scenario. Suppose I have the following configs in my solution ? ConnectionStrings.PROD-CM.config, ConnectionStrings.PROD-CD.config, ConnectionStrings.QA-CM.config, ConnectionStrings.QA-CM.config, ConnectionStrings.QA-CM.config, ConnectionStrings.DEV-CD.config. Now what is the parameter that decides which config to be replaced in which environment.

Then we opened the task where we enabled the File Transform and Variable Substitution options. There we had a small icon near XML Transformation option and opened it. Its was explaining on how the Config transforms will run.

So as per the explanation, we should have ?*. .config? in the config file. So we went back to the connection strings and then checked and it was named as per the suggestion ConnectionStrings.DR-CM.config. So comparing to the default naming convention, we have as ?DR-CM? here. No we went back to the Pipeline and checked the Stage name. For our bad luck it was named as ?DR-CM-1? the time it was created. Because we were not aware that this stage name actually matters and kept adding pipelines and tasks in this. Finally we changed back the stage name to ?DR-CM? and then redeployed the solution.

To our surprise, the solution got deployed successfully and the configs were replaced as expected.

The main agenda of writing this blog was to let people know the issues can be very basic level since we are limited to Documentations and exposure to the Azure DevOps deployment, we were not aware of this scenario related to environment name. So while debugging these kind of scenarios, make sure to follow basics and all the help texts, documentations available related to Azure DevOps and then continue your setup.

I really thank Hardeep Bhamra who allowed me to spend his valuable time debugging the issue and I was able to learn new topics and scenarios related to Azure DevOps.

That?s all from my side. See you all next time with a new and interesting topic.

@mr-sam please check out this document for interacting with VSTS, as there are some server-side things that need to be done to allow GitHub Desktop to authenticate: https://github.com/desktop/desktop/blob/developmen t/docs/integrations/vsts.md

@shiftkey i tried but still getting same authentication window after putting right credentials. FYI have tried with both primary and secondary username.

@mr-sam Would you mind adding the information from the template to your original issue above so we can understand what your environment is, what's happening, and hopefully take a look at the log files?

mr-sam commented Nov 27, 2018 ?

I can say one of the issue can be that it is not working with new azure repo accounts as i noticed. FYI i got this account around 15 days back so it is new azure devops account
Here is link to my repo
https://[email protected]/mg-demos/mg-az urefunctions/_git/mg-azurefunctions
I am attaching screenshot of authentication window and have underlined link it is showing to my repo which is wrong. I think that is issue if you can help me with that will be great help. Thank you

steveward commented Nov 27, 2018

@mr-sam I was able to reproduce this issue in my Azure DevOps account. I'm looking into what the issue may be. I was able to successfully authenticate by generating a personal access token, which can be done from Security > Personal Access Tokens under your Azure DevOps account.

steveward commented Dec 6, 2018 ?

Microsoft recommends using personal access tokens instead of basic authentication. I've tested that flow out a few times with my Azure DevOps account and confirmed it works without issue, so I'll work on getting a PR out to update our existing documentation about this.

How to integrate powerapps with azure devops

I am doing some research for Powerapps integration with Azure DevOps.

However there is limitated information for it.

It is possible to integrate powerapps inside a Task for AzureDevops?

Based on, that we have a .zip file with the Powerapp, and we want to create a Build and Release/Deploy for several environments.

It is possible to integrate powerapps inside a Task for AzureDevops?

<p&g t;Yes it is. You can leverage the Solution concept of the Microsoft Power Platform and the Power Apps BuildTools (preview) extension for Azure DevOps.

Update 11/2020: This is now GA and called Power Platform Build Tools

I've written a complete step-by-step guide on this topic:

Bottom line:

With this build tool, you can automatically check-in a Solution into source control and deploy it using a continuous delivery approach with the help of Azure DevOps. See the screenshot for a sample configuration of the Export and Import Solution Task.

<img src="https://i.stack.imgur.com/2cU9D.png" ; />

<img src="https://i.stack.imgur.com/dpoP6.png" ; />

It works for everything you can organize inside a Solution, e.g.:

Power Apps

Power Automate Flows

AI Builder Models

Common Data Service Entities

< p style="clear: both"><img src="https://i.stack.imgur.com/dredG.jpg" ; />

It is possible to integrate powerapps inside a Task for AzureDevops?

<p&g t;I am afraid there is no such Task integrate powerapps for AzureDevops at this moment.

If you want to integrate powerapps with azure devops, you can follow the guide step by step:

Besides, AFAIK, PowerApps should not be "Build/Deployed" through Azure Devops.

When you are developing with PowerApps, there is no way to do Source Control. There are no source files. The only artifact you can version control is the .zip file that you can export.

<blockquo te>
In PowerApps, you don?t have to build your code. Any change you make to the application is live for you to test it. In that way it is very productive. To publish the application you just click on the publish button and it is live.

Check this great blog: PowerApps From A DevOps Perspective for some more details.

Hope this helps.

This was the case when PowerApps was first announced; however, this is no longer the case. While it is technically true that there is no actual code that would be managed and deployed with a PowerApp or Flow but that doesn't mean that you can not use the power of Azure DevOps. Additionally, when creating a PowerApp / flow you would also be creating entities and even Model Driven apps - and these uses solutions - which naturally work well to deplooy within Azure DevOps.

Microsoft is building out this whole construct to enable all these to deploy. While the whole incorporation of PowerApps and flows into Solutions is not fully baked yet - they are targeting to have this ready around the October time frame this year.

We have been talking to Microsoft about also enabling PowerApps and flows to follow the same expansion that solutions do so that they can take advantage of the full branching strategy.

So even though you would be simply exporting out zip files into your repo - you can still take advantage of the full devops pipeline which is highly recommended.

Azure devops custom task - Kabrinskiy Eduard

Azure devops custom task

<youtube>
;
Azure devops custom task Headlines&l t;/a> Azure devops custom task

Creating Tasks automatically in Azure DevOps using Flow

Most of the times, Project Managers and Leads follow behind the team members to enter the tasks for User Stories or Product Backlog items. A truly agile team will follow it but same can?t be said about others where the teams are not Agile..And even for agile teams it takes sometime to enter the tasks, but here is an easy way out of it by which task creation is much simpler and time consuming process.

<em& gt;So how to solve this Problem?
Solution : Azure DevOps + Flow

Step 1: Go to Microsoft flow (flow.microsoft.com)

Step 2: Click on Connectors and then Search for Azure DevOps and click on it

Step 3: Choose the trigger whenever a work item is created as shown

Step 4: Enter all the details such as account name, project and type of the workitem

Step 5: Then Click on New Step as shown below

Step 7: Then Click on ?Create a work item?

Step 8: Choose these details from Dropdown ? AccountName,Project and Workitem Type

Step 9: Then choose Iteration Path, AreaPath from the parent workitem (Whenever you type AreaPath, it will take it from the first one)

Step 10: To link this work item with Parent, we need to know the url of the parent workitem

Step 11: Choose the parent workitem url from the previous step as shown (by entering url) and enter the link type as ?Hierarchy Reverse? (as we are linking the parent from the child, if we are linking child from a parent then it?s Hierarchy Forward)

Step 12 : And also enter any custom fields data you need to be populated from the userstory (All the custom fields could be entered from other fields. Will explain it in a separate post)

Step 13: Then Click on ?Save? button

Step 14: To test the flow, let us create a sample userstory and see how the task is getting created

Then create a UserStory as shown

Step 15: Wait for couple of minutes for the flow to run (There are other ways in which you can make this faster if you have a premium account and use HTTP connector with Service connection)

Step 16: See the User story again, you will have a task created under it

Step 17: You can also see whether the flow has run successfully by going to flow and seeing under runs

By this method, you can create tasks automatically without having to enter it manually or by using Excel. The same method can be also use to create Multiple tasks by having parallel branches as shown over here..

This is a 3 part series which explain in detail about how to create tasks using flow. You can see all the articles below

Azure devops backlog - Эдуард Ка ±СЂРёРЅСЃРєРёР№

<youtube>

Azure devops backlog Latest world news Azure devops backlog

Azure DevOps as Ticket System

If you are currently using Azure DevOps or have used it in the past, you know what an awesome product it is, you can use it to do pretty much anything you could dream of when it comes to project management, and it supports all steps of your development flow. However, since it has so many tools, many people find it too complicated to allow end customers into Azure DevOps, meaning that many companies will spilt up their workflows, having Azure DevOps to handle all the development, and then using a second system to handle project management and dialog with the customers ??. But what if I told you that you can let your customer create Bugs, Tasks, or feedback directly from their Business Central web client? Well, this is indeed possible and without having to write any code and only a minimal amount of setup ??.

First, you must add the users that you wish to allow to create Tasks in your Azure DevOps backlog, to do this the user must have a Microsoft account, next you must add them to your Azure DevOps organization, to do this click the Organization Settings in your Azure DevOps.

Go to users and click add user

Next fill out the email address of the user that you wish to add, set their access level to Stakeholder and choose whatever projects that you wish the user to have access to.

It is important that you choose stakeholders since they are free, they also have a limited access, but enough for creating and following Tasks and bugs in Azure DevOps. Next the user must go to Chromes Web shop and install the extensions called Test & Feedback https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/test-fee dback/gnldpbnocfnlkkicnaplmkaphfdnlplb?hl=da

Once it is installed you should see a beacon icon in your browser click it and go to settings

Insert the URL to your Azure DevOps, it will then ask the user to login, afterwards you will see a list of available projects, choose the one that is desired. And the setup is done now to start using it you must press the play button.

You now have the ability to take screenshots either of your browser or even of your desktop, and you can also record videos, and all of these will be added to your Azure DevOps task, a flow could be as follows.

Press the screenshot button and take a snippet of some part of your browser (or desktop)

Make the edits that you wish to use.

Then click the create bug button.

As you can see the image has been added to your bug, and you can then add some description, and if you take another screen snippet or record a video this will also be added to the bug, you then give it a name and click save.

And your bug is created, now if you go back to your Azure DevOps and go to boards you will see that My New Bug has been added to my backlog.

And if you open it, you not only see the screenshot and the comments, but also all the system information.

And the bug is ready to follow your flow, and since your customer now has a user, you can assign the bug back to the customer when it is ready to test. Which will send an email to the customer telling them what has happened, with a link to the bug ??.

And that is it, I hope this shows you that you can indeed use Azure DevOps as your ticket system towards your customers and with the plugin, it could not be any easier to create well-documented tasks and bugs for Business Central as well as for NAV ??. Well, that was it for this post so until next time stay safe. ??

&l t;h1>Azure Boards app for Microsoft Teams

Collaboration is one of the most critical tenets of modern day software development. Developers today rely on communication platforms like Microsoft Teams extensively to get work done. Often, Teams is the place where ideas are discussed, insights are generated and product defects are identified. The same discussions then can continue in Azure Boards where development teams actually plan and manage their work. We are excited to announce the Azure Boards app for Microsoft Teams that brings work in Azure Boards closer to the team channel in Microsoft Teams.

Things you can do with the app

Azure Boards app for Teams helps you to do following things from your Microsoft Teams channel:

Get notified whenever work items are created, updated, commented on, deleted or restored

Use messaging extension to search and share work items

Create new work items

Convert a conversation in the channel into a work item using message actions

Use work item URLs to get preview of work items. This will help to add context to the conversations in the channel

VSTS and Git Integration for Deploying to Azure ? Part 1

At work we use Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) with git and in this post I?ll walk you through our development process for writing code and deploying it to a demo site on Azure.

I have become a big fan of VSTS, it has some cracking functionality built-in which saves you a lot of time and effort.

I will cover the following:-

Using Visual Studio 2017 with the git integration tools ? Part 1

Deploying to Azure using VSTS with a CI / CD pipeline ? Part 2 https://gregorsuttie.com/2018/08/24/vsts-and-git-i ntegration-for-deploying-to-azure-part-2/</li&g t;

Deploying to Azure using VSTS with a CI / CD pipeline ? Part 3 https://gregorsuttie.com/2018/08/24/vsts-and-git-i ntegration-for-deploying-to-azure-part-3/</li&g t;

<strong&g t;Using Visual Studio 2017 with the git integration tools

So I open up Visual Studio 2017 and I first of all need to update my local copy of the master branch and pull down the latest version.

To do this I select Sync as shown above and then I choose fetch to fetch the latest commits and pull to pull them all down as below.

Ok, so now I have the latest code from the master branch as seen below.

Now I want to run the master branch and see if everything is good and check whats changed with the commits I pulled down but before I can do this I need to apply some local settings.

The reason for this is we have a number of Azure Services being used like event hubs etc and I have a local settings json file with my settings which I never check in. To apply these local settings I saved them into a stash and I will show you how I apply my stashes next.

So I click Stashes within Team Explorer and then I see the following.

And now I right-click on local settings and select apply stash, and this will apply my local settings to the project allowing me to run my own event hub instead of the one on our demo site as an example.

In order to get the Git Stash Extension you can download it from Extensions and Updates from the Tools menu within Visual Studio.

Setting up git in Azure Cloud Shell

David Lee

Dec 29, 2019 В· 3 min read

I am beginning to like the concept of using Azure Cloud Shell to help manage resources within my Azure Subscription(s). I find it useful to be able to execute scripts directly from within Cloud Shell because I love to automate common tasks such as managing Virtual Machines etc and this is an excellent platform to do just that. I do need those scripts local to my Azure Cloud Shell environment where I can easily manage and share those scripts using git with my peers.

Some pro tips: w e can start an Azure Cloud Shell session directly from the Azure Portal, however, I prefer to directly use this shell.azure.com. If this is the first time you launch Azure Cloud Shell, you will need to create a storage account. I suggest for you to configure using the advance setting so you can control the storage account name, location etc. Another consideration is that you may decide to use an existing storage account with your peers where each person just needs their own file share.

After the Azure Cloud Shell session is launched, we can now see we are logged in to our subscription.

Doing a ?dir? command would show our subscription information.

We can do a ?cd $home? to navigate to our ?home? directory. Because I like to keep my git repos organized into a folder called dev by convention, I would created a dev folder.

Next, I started creating a private git repository in my Azure DevOps instance and called it something meaningful, such as cloudshell. I am now ready to clone said repository into my dev folder. Before this, let?s fire off a few git commands to setup our git environment (globally).

Next, we are ready to begin to do a git clone. If you are like me, using Azure DevOps, there?s a handy ?Generate Git Credentials? that we can leverage to generate our git credentials which will provide us with the password. Store the password in the secure location because we wouldn?t be able to get it after the first time we view it.

We will be prompted for the password and git clone would be successful if we paste in the password.

The last step is to persist the password with the help of a credential helper.

As we can see below, after running the credential helper command, we would be prompted for the password the first time when we do a git pull. The second time, we would not.
