"Rockets" nenori paleisti D.Motiejūno į Brukliną - planuoja naują pasiūlymą

Autorius: Krepšinis.lt.

Hjustono „Rockets“ klubas nenori paleisti Donato Motiejūno. Nors klubo direktorius Darylas Morey pripažįsta, kad 25-erių lietuvis artimiausiu metu turi sulaukti Bruklino „Nets“ pasiūlymo pasirašyti kontraktą, jis užsimena, kad „Rockets“ savo ruožtu ketina pateikti savo variantą ir pranokti konkurentus.

Visgi to padaryti klubas negali, kol nežino, kokio solidumo pasiūlymo aukštaūgis sulauks iš „Nets“, rašo Krepšinis.lt.

Visgi sprendimas priklausys nuo to, koks bus „Nets“ pasiūlymas.

50 mln. JAV dolerių sutarties pasiūlymą viršijo Majamio „Heat“ komanda.

NBA lygoje šiuo metu yra šešios komandos, turinčios laisvų pinigų ir galinčios pasiūlyti lietuviui naują kontraktą. Tai Denverio „Nuggets“, Filadelfijos Sixers“, Minesotos „Timberwolves“, Jutos „Jazz“, Fynikso „Suns“ ir minėta „Nets“.

Visgi, nepaisant visų teorinių pasiūlymų, paskutinis ėjimas šioje situacijoje turėtų priklausyti Hjustonui, kuriam vis dar priklauso apribotas laisvasis agentas D-Mo.

TFS vs Azure DevOps Server: What Is the Difference?

Since it was launched in 2005, Team Foundation Server (TFS) has evolved significantly until Microsoft launched Azure DevOps in 2018. As a part of the broader shift to cloud services, the company renamed the cloud-based Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) to Azure DevOps Services and TFS as Azure DevOps Server. Let us take a look at the differences between TFS vs Azure DevOps Server and identify the various reasons to upgrade.

Why Upgrade from TFS to Azure DevOps?

Azure DevOps Server 2019 was more than just rebranded TFS. Several new features were introduced. Let us look at some of the additional benefits when you upgrade from TFS to Azure DevOps.

Improved Navigation Experience

TFS was primarily designed for admins. Despite incremental improvements, many users found it complicated to use. With Azure DevOps, users enjoy a seamless experience that is consistent across both Azure DevOps service and Azure DevOps Server. The navigation is inspired by Microsoft?s Fluent design language that is being rolled out across its offerings for consistency and predictability. With this capability, users can switch between services easily. The user interface is more responsive, and users can focus on their work better. The UI overhaul is the most notable difference between TFS and Azure DevOps.

Simplified Artifact and Release Management

Users can leverage Artifacts even with the Basic License. Additionally, the Release Management Deployment Pipelines will not have to be procured separately as it has been integrated with Azure DevOps Server. With this, users can take advantage of the new Build and Release pages and use the YAML data serialization standard to code configuration files. This was not supported in TFS 2018.

Tighter GitHub Enterprise Integration

As a part of enhancing project management capabilities, teams using Azure DevServer can connect GitHub Enterprise with Azure Boards. The commits and pull requests in GitHub can be used in conjunction with the backlogs, different work item types, tools, and boards in Azure Boards that is a part of Azure DevOps. There is no disruption in the workflow as commitments will be merged in the appropriate branches.

Azure SQL Database Support

Both Azure DevOps server and TFS require SQL Server. With Microsoft?s focus shifting to the cloud, Azure DevOps server can be hosted on virtual machines running on Azure. These support Azure SQL Database that can give users superior scaling and backup options without increasing administrative costs for running these complex services.

Advanced Search Capabilities

There have been considerable enhancements in the search capabilities in Azure DevOps Server.

The first addition is the introduction of my work flyout. With this feature, information from other components of the product will be accessible from whichever part users are currently working on. This is similar to a notification bar on which you can search for important updates without dropping your current activity.

The other improvement is the ability to expand the search box from the product header. This has been added based on user feedback to improve navigation.

Apps4Rent Can Assist with Azure DevOps

Unlike some of Microsoft?s other on-premises solutions such as SharePoint Server and Exchange Server, TFS (now Azure DevOps Server) is upgraded every year. However, in the TFS vs Azure DevOps comparison, the upgrade is radical and not incremental as it had been until 2018. So, while it is necessary to upgrade from your existing on-premises TFS sooner or later, the choice between Azure DevOps Server vs Azure DevOps can be more subjective.

CI/CD with Jenkins Pipeline and Azure

This is a guest post by Pui Chee Chen, Product Manager at Microsoft working on Azure DevOps open source integrations.

Recently, we improved the Azure Credential plugin by adding a custom binding for Azure Credentials which allows you to use an Azure service principal (the analog to a service or system account) via the Credentials Binding plugin. This means it?s now trivial to run Azure CLI commands from a Jenkins Pipeline. We also recently published the first version of the Azure App Service plugin which makes it very easy to deploy Azure Web Apps directly from Jenkins Pipeline. While we?ll have much more to discuss in our Jenkins World presentation on Azure DevOps open source integrations, in this blog post I wanted to share some good snippets of what is possible today with Jenkins Pipeline and Azure.

First, a simple example using the Azure CLI to list resources in the subscription:

azureServicePrin cipal() cannot be used in Declarative Pipeline until JENKINS-46103 is resolved.

Once a Pipeline can interact with Azure, there are countless ways one could implement continuous delivery with Jenkins and Azure. From a deploying a simple webapp with the Azure App Service plugin and the azureWebAppPublish step, or a more advanced container-based delivery pipeline to deliver new containers to Kubernetes via Azure Container Service.

With the Docker Pipeline plugin and a little bit of extra scripting, a Jenkins Pipeline can also build and publish a Docker container to an Azure Container Registry:

If you have been following our Azure Blog, you may have noticed we have shipped a lot of updates to provide better support for Azure on Jenkins, and vice versa, such as:

Hosted Jenkins. New Solution Template in Azure Marketplace lets you spin up a Jenkins Controller on Azure in minutes. Not only is it easy and fast, the solution template gives you option to scale up by selecting the VM disk type and size. And guess what? You can even select the Jenkins release type you want to use - LTS, weekly build or Azure verified - all under your control.

Continu ous integration experience. In the latest version of our Azure VM Agents plugin, we improved the user experience and added the option to let you to select Managed Disk for disk type (which is currently used extensively on ci.jenknis.io. You no longer need to worry about exceeding the number of VMs on your subscription.

Co ntinuous deployment experience. Now, if Azure CLI is not your cup of tea, we released our first plugin to provide continuous deployment support to Azure App Service. The plugin supports all languages Azure App Service supports. We even have a walkthrough here in the brand new Jenkins Hub where you can find all Jenkins on Azure resources.

Pipel ine readiness. Also, all Azure plugins are and will be pipeline ready. Have you been leveraging our Azure Storage plugin in your Pipeline?

So, whatРІ??s next? We have a big surprise in store at Jenkins World! :)

We are serious about supporting open source and the open source community. Be sure to catch our talk on Azure DevOps open source integrations. See you at Jenkins World 2017!

Backup Azure SQL Database within Azure DevOps Release Pipeline

Software deployments and updates are always a painful event for me. This feeling hasn?t subsided over time, even though pretty much every development project I am involved with these days utilises Azure DevOps Release Pipelines to automate this whole process for our team. The key thing to always stress around automation is that it does not mean that all of your software deployments suddenly become entirely successful, just because you have removed the human error aspect from the equation. In most cases, all you have done is reduce the number of times that you will have to stick your nose in to figure out what?s gone wrong ??

Database upgrades, which are done typically via a Data-tier Application Package (DACPAC) deployment, can be the most nerve-racking of all. Careful consideration needs putting towards the types of settings you define as part of your publish profile XML, as otherwise, you may find either a) specific database changes are blocked entirely, due to dependency issues or because intended data loss will occur or b) the types of changes you make could result in unintended data loss. This last one is a particularly salient concern and one which can be understood most fully by implementing staging or pre-production environments for your business systems. Despite some of the thought that requires factoring in before you can look to take advantage of DACPAC deployments, they do represent the natural option of choice in managing your database upgrades more formally, mainly when there is need to manage deployments into Azure SQL databases. This state of play is mostly thanks to the dedicated task that handles this all for us within Azure DevOps:

What this feature doesn?t make available to us are any appropriate steps we may need to take to generate a snapshot of the database before the deployment begins, a phase which represents both an equally desirable and necessary business requirement for software deployments. Now, I should point out that Azure SQL includes many built-in options around recovery and point in time restore options. These options are pretty extensive and enable you, depending on the database size tier you have opted for, to restore your database to any single time point over a 30-day point. The question that therefore arises from this is fairly obvious ? why go to the extra bother (and cost) to create a separate database backup? Consider the following:

The recovery time for a point-in-time restore can vary greatly, depending on several factors relating to your database size, current pricing tier and any transactions that may be running on the database itself. In situations where a short release window constraints you and your release must satisfy a strict success/fail condition, having to go through the restore process after a database upgrade could lead to your application from being down longer then is mandated within your organisation. Having a previous version of the database already available there means you can very quickly update your application connection strings to ensure the system returns to operational use if required.

Having a replica copy of the database available directly after an upgrade can be incredibly useful if you need to reference data within the old version of the database post-upgrade. For example, a column may have been removed from one table and added to another, with the need to copy across all of this data accordingly. Although a point-in-time restore can be done to expose this information out, having a backup of the old version of the database available straight after the upgrade can help in expediting this work.

Although Microsoft promise and provide an SLA with point-in-time restore, sometimes its always best to err on the side of caution. ?? By taking a snapshot of the database yourself, you have full control over its hosting location and the peace of mind in knowing that the database is instantly accessible in case of an issue further down the line.

<p&g t;If any of the above conditions apply, then you can look to generate a copy of your database before any DACPAC deployment takes place via the use of an Azure PowerShell script task. The example script below shows how to achieve this requirement, which is designed to mirror a specific business process; namely, that a readily accessible database backup will generate before any upgrade is taken place and to create a copy of this within the same Azure SQL Server instance, but with the current date value appended onto it. When a new deployment triggers in future, the script will delete the previously backed up database:

Simply add this on as a pipeline task before any database deployment task, connect up to your Azure subscription and away you go!

Backups are an unchanging aspect of any piece of significant IT delivery work and one which cloud service providers, such as Microsoft, have proactively tried to implement as part of their Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) product lines. Azure SQL is not any different in this regard and, you could argue that the point-in-time restore options listed above provide sufficient assurance in the event of a software deployment failure or a disaster-recovery scenario, therefore meaning that no extra steps are necessary to protect yourself. Consider your particular needs carefully when looking to implement a solution like the one described in this post as, although it does afford you the ability to recover quickly from any failed software deployment, it does introduce additional complexity into your deployment procedures, overall technical architecture and ? perhaps most importantly ? cost.

ALM takes the boredom out of development #HoskWisdom

;ALM and automated release management has moved from a nice to have to a must have for enterprise projects in Dynamics 365. The more developers you have working on a project the more important setting up ALM and release management. ?Without ALM you will waste hours manually deploying and having merge and build problems.

There is an investment in time to set it up and learn about ALM tools but the longer or bigger the project, more you use it and the greater the return on the investment.

Start at the beginning

Get your head around the ALM concepts

You may question if setting up ALM worth the time, this page Application lifecycle management has a healthcheck, read it and score your current setup. The key points Hosk highlights below

You should be deploying managed solutions beyond development

If you aren?t deploying managed solutions, there is a danger the environments beyond dev are out of sync, this can hide bugs and invalidate your testing on those environments.

Environments outside of Dev are to test individual components and how the solution works as a complete system.

Environments should be disposable

You should be able to deploy to a new environment with solutions and data and set it up quickly. Changes should be made in DEV and then deployed to all non development environments.

Source control should your definitive version of the truth and all customisations, data, templates and reports should be checked in. You should be able to deploy everything from source control.

Use the Solution Packager to convert your Dynamics 365 customisations into XML files, you can see the changes in detail. Deploying from source control means if your environments get corrupted you can rebuild them easily and quickly.

Solutions are binary files, you can see any changes.

Automated ALM and Release

If it can be automated, it should be automated #HoskWisdom

This increases builds and deployments and finds problems quicker, the more frequently you build and release the sooner you find problems. Fixing problems is easier and quicker in a smaller changeset.

Developers are expensive resources, don?t waste their time and enthusiasm manually deploying solutions or wasting time fixing build/release problems because it?s not done often.

The fewer manual steps you do, the less mistakes you will make releasing updates.

Articles to get your started

I?m hope you have read some of the material above and you are now itching to get started, If you have skipped read this page Application lifecycle management (ALM) with Microsoft Power Platform

Read the two articles below

The articles below give step by step instructions to setup an ALM process. The best way to learn is by doing

Capgemini Extensions

XRMCIFramework ? CodePlex

Source Control

Solut ions

Solutions are core part of deploying your customisations and organising your the development team.

DevOps books

There are lots of resources available online and videos to watch. Technology books can go out of date quicker than they can be written. The three books below are about the theory and give you a deeper understanding of DevOps.

The two books below are fiction, showing you how DevOps can help a business and the pain you might experience trying to implement it

Conclusion& lt;/h1>

ALM is worth the investment because it's something multiple developers on your team do every day. ALM increases build and release frequency, enabling you to find problems faster in smaller changesets.

ALM will set standards on your development process and increase quality.

Once the ALM and release management is set up, you will benefit it every day and you will wonder how you ever did without it.

Using Azure DevOps to Build and Publish your Xamarin iOS App

Hemant Bhutani

Jul 4, 2019 В· 5 min read

Well after searching multiple articles, blogs and videos i was able to setup our new Xamarin iOS app on Azure DevOps. In this story i would like to focus on creating a Build and finally, publishing (releasing) it on TestFlight (App Store). To be honest it took me long time to create a build and at last upload it on App Store for testing purpose.

Description</stro ng>

One of the objectives of Azure DevO p s is automating a lot of tedious work such as builds and releases. With the help of this document we would configure Build and Release pipeline for Xamarin Mobile App on Azure DevOps.

Importing/Creating your repository

1> ; Create a new project on Azure Devops. For the document purpose, I have created the project named ?XamarinApp? and will be using the same for reference purpose in this article.

2> Next click on ?Pipeline? and select source of your Repository. Now you can either Import your Repo or create a new one. For demonstration purpose I have imported the source code from my Git Repo and named it as ?XamarinApp?.

3> Once you have mentioned the URL and credentials for your repo, it will start importing files to Azure DevOps Repo. Note : This will basically create a new Repo with name ?ProjectName? which would be a clone of your GIT repo.

4> The files would now appear in your new Azure Repo and can be used to create a Build Pipeline.

Before I proceed further onto the next phase (creating build pipeline), I would like to clarify another thing. While we run our iOS app from Visual Studio there are 2 ways to provision the app i.e Automatic Provisioning or Manual Provisioning. However, as per current process I would use ?Manual Provisioning? so that we can utilize build agent running on Azure DevOps Servers.

Important Note: When setting up an iOS build you firstly need to select the correct agent pool from Azure DevOps. In this case select the Hosted macOS agent pool. Click on Pipeline, and select the agent pool.

Creating a Build Pipeline

1> Click on Pipeline and then click on ?Create Pipeline? button to start the process. You can select YAML based pipeline if you are similar with YAML format or else click on ?Classic Editor? to select the GUI based pipeline.

2> In my case I am using classic editor. Select the source of the pipeline along with the branch for which build is required.

3> To set up our Xamarin iOS build we use the available template in Azure DevOps because it contains all the necessary build tasks to create an IPA file which is Apple?s equivalent of the APK file in Android. For this purpose, I will use template name ?Xamarin.iOS?.

4> Some of the tasks in the template would be in ?disabled? state, however we would require them to successfully create a proper build and hence I have enabled these tasks. This includes tasks like ?Install an Apple certificate?, ?Install an Apple provisioning profile? etc.

5> Installing the Apple certificate :Upload your Apple P.12 certificate which differs from the .cer file along with password. Use your apple developer account to download this certificate. Instead of manually passing the password I have defined a Secret Variable in the ?Variables? tab and added the value for the password. For this I created a variable name ?P12password? and mentioned in as $(P12password) in password column as per the syntax.

6> Next step is to add the required configuration for 2nd Task ? Install an Apple Provisioning Profile?. Again access your Apple Developer account to download this profile.

7> Once these are completed we will be using install NuGet and NuGet Restore tasks to successfully add\create the NuGet packages.

8> During my test build I was facing some issues related to dependencies of packages and hence, I manually created a bash command to change the SDK version of Xamarin. You can try running your build without this task and if it works then no need to add run this Bash command.

Error message without using the Bash Command task.

At AWS, we strive to provide you a technology platform that allows for agile development, rapid deployment, and unlimited scale, so that you can free up your resources to focus on innovation for your customers. It?s greatly rewarding to see our efforts recognized not just by our customers, but also by leading analysts.

This year, Gartner announced a new Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services (CIPS). This is an evolution of their Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for which AWS has been named as a Leader for nine consecutive years.

Customers are using the cloud in broad ways, beyond foundational compute, networking and storage services. We believe for this reason, Gartner is expanding the scope to include additional platform as a service (PaaS) capabilities, and is extending coverage for areas such as managed database services, serverless computing, and developer tools.

Today, I am happy to share that AWS has been named as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Cloud Infrastructure and Platform Services, and placed highest in Ability to Execute and furthest in Completeness of Vision.

Posted on October 31, 2016

The public preview of Azure Monitor was recently announced at Ignite. This new platform service builds on some of the existing monitoring capabilities to provide a consolidated and inbuilt monitoring experience to all Azure users.

From within the Azure portal, you can use Azure Monitor to query across Activity Logs, Metrics and Diagnostic Logs. If you need the advanced monitoring and analytics tools like Application Insights, Azure Log Analytics and Operations Management Suite (OMS), the Azure Monitor blade contains quick links. You can also leverage the dashboard experience in the portal to visualize your monitoring data and share it with others in your team.

The consolidated Azure Monitor blade in the portal allows you to quickly and centrally manage alerts from the following sources:

Metrics

Events (eg. Autoscale events)

Locations (Application Insights Web Tests)

Proactive diagnostics (Application Insights)

< ;p>These alerts can be configured to send an email and also in the case of the Metrics and Web Tests POST to a webhook. This allows for easy integration with external platforms.

Integrating Azure Monitor with Atlassian JIRA

Atlassian JIRA is a familiar solution to many IT, software and business teams. It's an ideal candidate for connecting to the Azure Monitor service via the webhook mechanism in order to create JIRA Issues from Metric and Web Test Alerts.

&quo t;Azure Notifications with JIRA marries critical operational events with JIRA issues to help teams stay on top of app performance, move faster, and streamline their DevOps processes," said Bryant Lee, head of product partnerships and integrations at Atlassian.

Add-ons can be built for JIRA, Confluence, HipChat and BitBucket to extend their capabilities. In order to make the process of deploying the add-on as easy as possible, we've built this Azure Notifications add-on to be deployed and hosted on an Azure Web App which is connected to your JIRA instance via the Manage add-ons functionality in the JIRA Administration screen. The add-on establishes a secret, key exchange and other private details with JIRA that is used to secure, sign and verify all future communication between the two. All of this security information is stored in Azure Key Vault.

The add-on exposes token secured endpoints that can be configured in Azure Monitor against the webhooks exposed for various alerting mechanisms. Alerts will flow from Azure Monitor into the token secured endpoints. The add-on will then transform the payloads from the Azure Monitor alerts and securely create the appropriate Issue in JIRA.

Relevant information is extracted from the Azure Monitor alerts and highlighted in the Issue. The full Azure Monitor alert payload is included for reference.

Deploying the add-on

The Azure Notifications for Atlassian JIRA add-on is available today in Bitbucket for you to deploy and connect your JIRA instance and Azure Monitor alerts. The overview section of the add-on's repository provides documentation on the add-on and how to install it and all its associated infrastructure in Azure.

Once installed, the add-on will appear in your add-ons list in JIRA. You can then configure your Azure Monitor Alerts to send alerts to the add-on.

If you have resources deployed in Azure and are using JIRA, then this add-on has just made it really simple for you to start creating issues from your Azure Monitor alerts today!

Nuget azure devops - Eduard Kabrinskiy

Nuget azure devops

Azure devops nuget feeds

is there a way to connect to azure Devops nuget feeds? Tried username + access token as pasword and it didn't work for me (HTTP 401)

Comments

&l t;p>I've just tried it and it works for me. I created a PAT according to these instructions:

From LINQPad's NuGet package manager, I went to settings, and entered the PAT into the password field. The username can be anything, such as ID.

It would be nice if LinqPad just worked with the V3 URIs. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong too?

I can't reproduce this error with the V3 feed. However, after combing through the code, I've picked up a bug whereby the NuGet credentials can potentially be overridden by machine settings. Can you try the latest beta and let me know whether it makes any difference:

It started working for me when I switched to the new Azure urls starting with https://pkgs.dev.azure.com

Not sure why or if that was actually what made the difference for me but after changing from https://xyz.pkgs.visualstudio.com to https://pkgs.dev.azure.com it started working.

Hope this works for someone else too.

I couldn't connect to Azure Devops Artifacts.
I did the following:

Added PAT as per instructions above

Put the PAT as password

Used the BETA

That worked for me - i couldn't access it any other way.

I still experience the problem with Linqpad 6.5.5. It throws me an exception Unauthorized.
I tried with several combinations it with the PAT, user name and password and none worked.

Does anybody experience the same issue?

I have recently switched to LinqPad 6 (6.7.5 x64) and I'm experiencing this issue. We have an on-prem Azure DevOps instance. I've created a PAT with all scopes. I created a nuget feed in LinqPad and left the username blank and the password is the PAT token. I keep getting the authentication 401 error.

FYI, I tested this and without changing the feed at all the feed works in LinqPad 5 but not 6. I get the 401 error in LinqPad 6.

Have you re-started LINQPad after changing the username/password? (This is required by the NuGet API)

Hi,
I can confirm that using PAT in LinqPad 6 (v6.8.3) doesn't work , but the exact same configuration works in LinqPad 5 (v5.41.00). I have tried different configurations (v2, v3, PAT with and without username etc.), but no luck - still gets a 401. I hope this gets fixed soon, as I would like to use C# 8 features.

I still can't reproduce this error. My devops feed URI looks like this:

The username box contains 'ID', although it seems anything can go here (as long as it's not blank).

The password box contains the PAT.

Note that you must restart LINQPad after editing the credentials - this is because the NuGet client library caches the credentials after they're first sent and there appears to be no way to clear that cache.

Had 401 error on v6.8.3 until I followed Joe's notes. 1. Ensure Id field has something in it, password is PAT. 2. Save. 3. Restart linqpad. All good!

Hi,
I still can't get it to work (now running version 6.9.15). However, I have a few things to add.

I have both version 5 and 6 installed at the same time. Changes to "Package Source" in one seems to affect the other. It looks like I don't have to put anything in the "Username" and "Password" fields in version 5 for it to work. But I still get the 401 (Unauthorized) in version 6. So I think this problem might not have anything to do with the PAT (for me at least).

What I have noticed is that the source shown in the message is different from the source in "Package Source". In stead of "https://[base path]/_packaging/[feed name]/nuget/v3/index.json" I get a message saying that "Failed to retrieve metadata from source 'https://[base path]/_packaging/[some guid]/v3/query2/?q=. '".

So LinqPad v6 seems to try to contact a source it doesn't have access to, whereas v5 does not.

I don't know if this helps at all, but I hope it does.

We have a Git repo with over 400 Visual Studio solutions in it (Some are C# and some C++). Trying to figure out a means to build these using DevOps Build Pipelines. It appears the build pipeline is tailored to only building 1 solution per pipeline.

Here's some history on how we dealt with this in the past:

In the past we have used TFS Team Build workflow and built or projects using MSBuild. We have over 400 solution files for our project and we build 4 platform/configurations ? x86 debug, x86 release, x64 debug, x64 release. The build workflow would read an xml file with the list of solutions to build and loop through each solution in the xml file and have another loop for each platform/configuration. Also due to dependencies the xml file would also define the order in which to build the solutions.

I understand that having so many solutions is not ideal, but that is the mess we were left with.

Here's is some possible options I found googling:

Create a pipeline or azure.pipelines.yml for each solution ? this is not very practical again since we have so many solutions

Make use of a template.yml ? the template could be updated to actually do the build task, however would still need to pass in over 400 solutions from the azure-pipelines.yml file

;Or I was thinking of creating a power shell or batch script or something that when called could read the xml file (which has the list of solutions to build) and in the script then loop through them all and build them all as well as the 4 platform/configurations. So the one power shell or batch script would do all the building work when called from 1 task as part of the azure-pipelines.yml. This is probably doable but may take some work. Also I don't want to loose any built in logging we get with built in build tasks.

I'm curious if anyone else has encountered this issue and I am open to input of how the solved the issue

Setting your private VSTS Git artifacts repository in DevTest Labs

Introduction

In some of my previous post I?ve described what DevTest Labs is, how to set Virtual Machines with Artifacts in DevTest Labs and how you can use and configure VM policies in DevTest Labs. This post will describe how add and set your private VSTS Git Artifacts Repository in DevTest Labs. For now, this is possible only for Visual Studio Team Services, Git and GitHub repository. Artifacts can be items such as actions that you want to run on the VM, tools that you want to install on a VM or some applications that you want to test.

Step 1: Setting VSTS Git repository

In order to set VSTS Git repository you will first need to create a folder for Artifacts under your private Git Repository. This folder will contain all the Artifacts that you are going to create in later steps. This Artifacts can be also shared with other users in the Lab.

1. Open Visual Studio Team Services.
2. Navigate to DevOps folder.
3. Click on your Artifacts folder.
4. On the right side you will see the details of your Artifact folder.

More Info If you would like to learn more about using different environments during the realization of a software system ? have a look at the post Azure DevTest Labs Updates. Azure DevTest Labs is a service provided by Microsoft Azure which provides functionality for managing environments that contain Azure Virtual Machines. The post, mentioned above, describes both the core capabilities of DevTest Labs and the new features of the service (as of February, 2018).

Step 2: Setting the Name of Artifact Repository in the Lab

First you need to set some basic settings such as name of your private VSTS Git Repository. You can choose the name by your choice, just pay attention to use the same name where needed.

1. Navigate to the Lab, which is in this example already open in another tab.
2. Click on Settings tab.
3. From the menu choose Artifact Repository to start with setting details of it.
4. In the right window type the Name of your private VSTS Git Repository.

Step 3: Setting the Git Clone URI of Artifact Repository in the Lab

In this step you will have to set Git Clone URI for your Artifact Repository in your Lab, to get the copy of your Git Repository.

1. Navigate back to VSTS Git Repository.
2. On the right side click on Clone button to see the Clone URI details.
3. Click on Copy symbol to copy the link to clipboard.
4. New pop-up window will appear with notification for allowing the access. Click on Allow Access button.
5. Navigate back to the Lab and paste the link for Git Clone URI.

Tip If you would like to know more about this new developer service available on the Azure platform, you can have a look at the following post; More about Azure DevTest Labs. If you prefer a more concise description of the same feature, ? have a look at Quick overview of Azure DevTest Labs.

Step 4: Setting the Folder Path and Personal Access Token in the Lab

The Folder Path is the name of the folder that is described in first step of this tutorial. It is listed under your private Git Repository and you will have to type the exact name of it.
1. In the Folder Path field enter the name of your Artifact folder, exactly as it is shown in Step 1-3. Before the name type symbol /. In this case I?m going to type

2. In order to set the Personal Access Token, navigate back to VSTS Git Repository.
3. Click on Generate Git Credentials.
4. The window will generate new password. Click on the Copy button on the right side.

5. Navigate back to the Lab.
6. Paste the generated password in the Personal Access Token field.

Conclusion

In previous post you saw that Azure DevTest Labs artifact repository includes already some Artifacts by default. This post described how to set your private VSTS Git artifacts repository in DevTest Labs in simple four steps. In the next post I?m going to describe also how you can set also private Artifacts by using a GitHub Repository. Stay tuned!

CD Task: Deploy Azure App Service I am aware of other ways of updating the web.config https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/vsts/build-releas e/tasks/transforms-variable-substitution, but in our case we want to skip the web.config file. I couldn?t find the option to skip file in during release in VSTS as mentioned in this thread How do I exclude the .cs files within an artifact from a vs-team-services CI build? Is there a way to exclude certain files while building and deploying the release?

Added -skip:objectName=filePath,absolutePath=web\.config in additional arguments. This skips updating the web.config file during deployment. <img style="float: left; margin: 0 10px 5px 0;" src="https://i.stack.imgur.com/cX7Ra.png" ; />

You can exclude the web.config before publishing artifacts in your build definition: copy the web packages files to a directory (such as $(build.binariesdirectory) ), then copy the files exclude web.config to another folder (such as $(Build.ArtifactStagingDirectory)/package ), and zip the files under $(Build.ArtifactStagingDirectory)/package . And finally publish the zip file as build artifacts.

Details changes in the build definition as below:

Continuous Integration

De vOps

DevOps leads to faster delivery and higher quality. DevOps is not just about creating new, efficient, and better apps; it is about building and using continuous integration deployment and delivery to focus on delivering business value.
DevOps is an intersection of development and operational aspects in a software development life cycle. The In Time Tec DevOps team emphasizes the collaboration and communication of both software developers and other information technology (IT) professionals while automating the process of software delivery and infrastructure changes. We aim to establish a culture and environment where building, testing, and releasing the software can happen rapidly, frequently, and more reliably.

AWS DevOps

AWS provides the cloud computing capability on a global scale, which you can leverage to provide the application services globally within the span of hours. AWS DevOps has helped thousands of organizations to migrate to the cloud and free-up resources by lowering IT costs. This process improved productivity, operational resiliency, and business agility so that you can reach your business goals quickly and with confidence.
Leveraging AWS infrastructure and solutions such as high availability, scalability and disaster recovery can meet the end user needs even under the most demanding conditions.

Azu re DevOps

Microso ft azure is one of the leading cloud providers with all kind of services designed to meet all IT needs. Services offered by Azure DevOps encompass three major areas namely software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS). It also allows IT companies integrate its on-premise IT infrastructure with Azure providing a hybrid cloud infrastructure. This process has been widely adopted by all kinds of companies dealing in different sectors such as healthcare, financial services, retail, government and manufacturing. Azure DevOps has its datacentre across the globe and is connected through Azure?s global network. One can scale up and down its resources in Azure as per their requirement thereby saving their IT expenditure to a great extent.

@geverghe For approach sign off:

Command to create a PR in draft mode: az repos pr create --is-draft + other params as is
--is-draft : Use this flag to create the pull request in draft/work in progress
mode.

Command to update a PR:
az repos pr update --id 123 --is-draft true
az repos pr update --id 123 --is-draft false

--is_draft: Publish the PR or convert to draft mode.

gauravsaralMs commented Mar 29, 2019

seems a bit odd that in output we are translating something like
isdraft==false ==> published
isdraft==true ==> isDraft

also looking at json response I think we only have isDraft in the body. So then why not have only --is-draft as an option and user can pass True/ False for update?

atbagga commented Apr 1, 2019

Updated the proposal comment as per Gaurav's Suggestion above.

atbagga commented Apr 2, 2019

@geverghe
The concern here is that --is-draft is a flag in create PR like --open and other flags in create whose presence/absence signifies true or false instead of explicit value.
In update command it is string which can be true or false.

Reasoning : Create Pr has multiple other boolean flags so --is-draft being a bool is consistent in the command scope.
Why can't we have same in update PR command? Because then --is-draft will have a default value and it will become compulsory for user to provide it during every update so we do not override the current state of PR with the default value. e.g. A PR is published and I want to update the title. In the command --is-draft is true by default.
The command az repos pr update --title "abc" should have sufficed but this will change my PR to draft mode.

geverghe commented Apr 10, 2019

Apologies for not responding earlier. Think I am hitting some rule exception in my email and this didn't come into my attention.

This means that non mandatory boolean attributes have three states - true, false and not set. When this model was first proposed, the feedback was that the implementation was presence indicated true and non-presence false. This is not the case. There are three states and we should be following this guideline. Therefore, for this scenario, it should ideally be:

az repos pr --draft - Indicates PR should be set as draft

az repos pr --draft true - Indicates PR should set as draft

az repos pr - Indicates that there is no mention of draft and therefore this attribute is never set.

az repos pr --draft false - There is explicit intent to set as false.

<p& gt;Now in case of mandatory boolean attributes, then presence and non presence equates to true /false. However, this does not mean users cannot provide the explicit intent via value as well. Consider draft was a mandatory variable - even then we need to support all of the following:

az repos pr --draft - Indicates PR should be set as draft

az repos pr --draft true - Indicates PR should set as draft

az repos pr - Indicates PR should not be set as draft

az repos pr --draft false - Indicates PR should not be set as draft.

<p& gt;Let me know your thoughts on this. We should agree on a standard and move forward. Otherwise, commands within our own extension will be inconsistent.

Azure DevOps for beginners

What is DevOps?

DevOps is a gradual process which enables continuous delivery to provide an end-to-end tool chain. DevOps starts with project planning and end with project deployment and monitoring.

Note: Azure DevOps is formerly known as Visual Studio Team Service (VSTS)

How to create Azure DevOps?

To create an Azure DevOps account.

Go to dev.azure.com and click on start free.

Sign in with Microsoft account

Click on New Organization

Give a name to your Azure DevOps Organization

Select your region where you want to host your project

Next, we will create a Project.

Create a Project in Azure DevOps

To create a project in Azure DevOps, follow below steps -

Click on +Create Project button

In new window, give a name to your project and provide description of your project.

Select the visibility of your project - Public or Private

In Advance section, select Version control and Work item process for your project

What is Azure Boards?

After making the project, it is now the turn to make Azure Boards. Azure DevOps helps the team members to plan their work with the help of Azure Boards. Azure Boards is just like To-Do list.Actually, Azure Boards is a graphical presentation to track the work and plan it accordingly.

Create Azure Boards

From the left side menu, hover mouse on Broads and select Broads from sub-menu

Click on + New Item

Type a name of task and press enter

Click on . and select open

These steps assume that you are using .NET Core 3.x and that you have already have a Azure DevOps Build Pipeline integrated with SonarQube/SonarCloud. However, you are unable to get the code coverage statistic to work.

Step One: Make it work in the IDE

Step Two: Add the SonarQube Properties

If you are using a YAML build pipeline the SonarQubePrepare task should look like the following. I'm using SonarCloud, so I have the SonarCloudPrepare task, however the inputs are the same.

To export the list of Azure resources to excel, you need to take help of Azure Cmdlet PowerShell Script. Using the PowerShell script, you can easily export the Azure subscription inventory. We need to take help of two cmdlet to achieve this.

Export list of Azure Resources to Excel

The Get-AzureRmResource cmdlet gets Azure resources for the selected subscription, and The Export-Csv cmdlet helps in export data as a comma-separated values (CSV) file. Thereafter you can open the same using Excel for your further data manipulation.

First, Connect with Azure Account, and select the necessary subscription
;

If you have multiple subscription, set the context to a specific subscription

Once the subscription is set, execute the following command

Once the command execution is completed, you can open the CSV file in excel. With a little formatting and data manipulation, you can have your detailed inventory in excel.

Get-AzureR MResource cmdlet returns following

You may not be looking for all these details to be exported. In that case, you can export only the fields by mentioning them as Select-Object.

In this case, the exported CSV will have only the Resource Name, and Resource Group.

DevOps - development and operations

Related Terms

DevOps (developmen t and operation<strong&g t;s) is an enterprise software development phrase used to mean a type of agile relationship between development and IT operations. The goal of DevOps is to change and improve the relationship by advocating better communication and collaboration between these two business units.

DevOps in the Enterprise

In the enterprise there is a need to break down silos, where business units operate as individual entities within the enterprise where management, processes and information are guarded. On the software development side ? and for those working in IT operations ? there needs to be better communication and collaboration to best serve the IT business needs of the organization.

The DevOps Culture

One answer to breaking down enterprise silos is the move towards a DevOps-based culture that partners developers with operations staff to ensure the organization achieves optimal running of software with minimal problems. This culture is one that supports a willingness to work together and share.

The DevOps culture puts a focus on creating a fast and stable work flow through development and IT operations. One main goal of DevOps is to deploy features into production quickly and to detect and correct problems when they occur, without disrupting other services.

DevOps Professional Principles

DevOps is not based on stringent methodologies and processes: it is based on professional principles that help business units collaborate inside the enterprise and break down the traditional silos. The guiding principles of DevOps include culture, measurement, automation and sharing.

DevOps is considered to be a new approach to the more traditional application lifecycle management (ALM) process.

Azure devops json variable substitution -

& lt;h1>JSON Variable Substitution in Multi-Stage YAML Pipeline with Azure Key Vault

James Still

Software, Design, Architecture and Whatever Else

In my last post I showed how to configure JSON variable substitution with secret variables right in the pipeline. Now in this follow up post I want to expand on that to show how you could instead store your secrets in an Azure Key Vault and reference them in the pipeline. See the publicly visible TimeApi project on Azure DevOps for the source code, ARM templates, and the YAML file.

How do we go about creating the key vault? Should we create a single global vault and put everything in there? You could. But then it?s hard to get security right because there are production secrets in there. Operations has to lock the whole vault down. Also, you end up with names like my-secret-dev, my-secret-sbx and my-secret-prd. Then in your YAML file you have to remember these names and not introduce a copy-paste bug like:

So the best practice is to create a key vault for each environment and configure security accordingly. Developers should have the Key, Secret, and Certificate Management access policy in lower environments but just Get and List in the production key vault.

In my TimeApi solution from the last post I have two resource groups, one for development and one for sandbox testing:

Inside each resource group is a key vault for that environment. Here are the resources under services-dev-rg:</ p>

In the services-sbx-rg there is another key vault named widget-services-sbx-kv ;. I?ve added these two secrets to each vault. They have different values but the names are identical and do not betray knowledge of the environment:

You can?t create variable groups in YAML (or at least not as of this writing). So I have to go to the Azure DevOps portal to create them and link the secrets to the key vault. This is pretty routine and I?ll assume you are familiar with this task. Here is my development resource group where my project service connection has Get and List rights on the linked key vault:

All that?s left now is to modify the YAML file. The syntax for using a variable group in YAML is:

Visual Studio Team System (VSTS)

Definition - What does Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) mean?

Visual Studio Team System (VSTS) is an integrated development environment (IDE) developed as a software product by Microsoft Corp. to facilitate software project creation, development and management. VSTS is composed of four subproducts:

Visual Studio, a development environment

Visual Studio Test Professional for test data management and test case execution

Team Foundation Server, which offers collaboration of source code files and centralized database

Visual Studio Lab Management, which provides features to create a virtual environment for software testers

<h 2>Techopedia explains Visual Studio Team System (VSTS)

A software development task often consists of several stages and procedures with different people involved in each stage:

The business analyst responsible for analyzing the given problem and representing it visually

The project manager who allocates budget and resources and frames a schedule for the project development activities

The software architect who studies the system and its functions in depth and develops necessary algorithms

The developer who writes code based on the algorithms

The software test engineer who tests the code to fix bugs and defects

The deployment team responsible for delivering the fully operational product to the client

<p& gt;Each of the members needs a different tool to work with. For example, the project manager is only interested in working with tools that provide an insight regarding the budget of the project and is not interested in tools associated with testing. Therefore, a software package is needed that can meet the demands of the people involved in software development. VSTS offers a software package with several sub-packages that incorporate all essential features.

The entire functionality of VSTS relies on the core component known as the Team Foundation Server (TFS). It facilitates development collaboration among different teams of people working on the same software project, offers a repository for storing configuration objects, and enables data collection and project tracking. It is the main back-end component of VSTS.

Azure devops plugins

The following document depicts the pros and cons of CI/CD tools (Azure DevOps and Jenkins). Before that, let?s understand what CI /CD means.

<s trong>Continuous Integration (CI) is a development practice where development teams make small, frequent changes to code. Each integration is verified by an automated build (including test) to detect integration errors as quickly as possible.

& lt;strong>Continuous delivery (CD) is actually an extension of CI, in which the software delivery process is automated further to enable easy and confident deployments into production at any time.

Azur e Pipelines

Azure Pipelines is a service that caters the need for creating pipelines on Azure Cloud Platform. It supports continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD), hence constantly and consistently tests and builds your code and deploys it to any target by defining a pipeline.

Pros& lt;/strong>

??<strong&g t;Usability (Great User Interface) - Being a new user, it was easy to pick up and go with this tool . We can start with the classic editor which provides an intuitive GUI to create and visualize the integration steps. Later, the user you can define those very same steps in YAML.Hence, we can define the pipeline using two features i.e. Classic Editor and YAML.

??<em&g t;Categorized Built in Tasks - The tasks are categorized based on the nature of operation. ex:Build tasks,Utility tasks,Deploy tasks etc. This makes easy for the user to add the desired/specific tasks to their pipeline.

??< em>Group Tasks - It allows you to encapsulate a sequence of tasks, already defined in a pipeline, into a single reusable task ,just like any other task.

??<strong&g t;C<em& gt;onfiguring CI/CD Pipeline as Code - Using YAML we can achieve this. Reference to understand the hierarchy of YAML file-

??<em&g t;Request and Add Tasks to your Pipelines - It has a lot of build-in tasks, yet you can download extensions/tasks from the Azure DevOps marketplace.

??& lt;em>Microsoft Hosted Agents - Azure Pipelines offers cloud hosted build agents for Linux, Windows, and macOS builds. You can have a look as to what software are installed on the agent using the following reference link.

??<em&g t;Any language, any platform, any cloud - Build, test, and deploy Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, Ruby, C/C++ , .Net, Android, and iOS apps. Run in parallel on Linux, macOS and Windows. Deploy to Azure, AWS, GCP or on-premises

??<st rong>Azure Pipelines - Provide unlimited build minutes to all open source projects and up to 10 concurrent jobs across Windows, Linux and macOS.

??<strong& gt;Azure Pipeline - Analytics are provided at the end of each run with parameters like rate and duration of run.

??&l t;em>Integration with non-Microsoft is difficult - Azure DevOps should provide easier integration with other product lines to improve acceptability.

??< ;strong>Azure Pipeline - Workflow is straightforward (can?t set if-else or switch-case constructions). This makes it more difficult to develop complex workflows.

??The< /em> deprecated tasks/extensions - They are not removed from the marketplace.

??Docum ents are not Up To Date.

<h3& gt;Jenkins

A Jenkins pipeline is a suite of plugins that supports implementing and integrating continuous delivery pipelines into Jenkins.

Pros&l t;/strong>

??Jen kins is open source, easy to install and free.

??<em&g t;Platform Independent - Available for all platforms and different operating systems, whether Mac OS X, Windows or Linux.

??<em& gt;Rich Plugin - Jenkins comes with a wide range of plugins.

Cons</ strong>

??&l t;em>Outdated UI - Its interface seems a bit outdated and not user friendly as it doesn?t follow modern design principles.

?? Scripted Pipelines - Must be programmed in Groovy.

&l t;p>??Though it's rich in Plugin, a lot of plugins are not straightforward or unstable - Even for a basic tasks, plugins needs to be installed.

??There?s no YAML interface for Jenkins Pipelines.

??Jenkins doesn?t provide any analytics (there are plugins but they are not enough) at the end of each run.

??Ne eds better documentation.

< ;strong>Conclusion: Who is the winner?

It all depends on the Team/Project need . We know Jenkins is more flexible to create complex workflow indeed Azure DevOps is faster to adapt. It?s very rare that a single CI tool will suffice for all scenarios.

If we decide to use both the tools, then we should know that Azure Pipelines supports integration with Jenkins.

O que ? DevOpsDays?

Formato do evento

As Palestras

Patroc?nio</h1& gt;

Ah, quer patrocinar? D? um pulo na p?gina do evento.

Hotel Century Paulista, pertinho do metr? Brigadeiro nos dias 06 e 07 de junho de 2018. Quem vamos?
