Zalgiris extends Paulius Jankunas

Lithuanian League champion Zalgiris announced that power forward Paulius Jankunas is set to stay in the team for one more year, with a option to extend the deal until the end of the 2009-10 season. Jankunas (204, 24) averaged 8.6 points and 4.8 rebounds in 20 Euroleague games last season, helping Zalgiris to win as many as three different domestic competitions - the Lithuanian League, the Baltic League and the Lithuanian Cup. He is set to start his sixth consecutive season with his lifelong club. Jankunas has also helped Zalgiris to win three other Lithuanian League titles in 2004, 2005 and 2007, as well as lifting the Baltic League trophy in 2005. He has also been a member of the Lithuanian national team and helped it to win the bronze medal at EuroBasket 2007.
